Cosmetic Dental Procedures That Won't Break The Bank

By Jackson Briggs

Cosmetic dentistry has changed quite a bit in recent years, and there are plenty of new techniques to discuss. The good news is that with innovation comes cost savings, meaning this is no longer only a luxury item. If you have been putting off remaking your smile, you may want to look again.

Some of the things you can get done with cosmetic dentistry are teeth whitening, shading, alignments and replacements of damaged teeth. A great smile brings great confidence, so this goes beyond just the look and health of your teeth. This is about your image and and the health of your smile, when you look better you feel better.

Touching up your existing teeth is one thing that is typically a cheap procedure. Stains on teeth can come for a variety of reasons, like drinking coffee or smoking. There are many do it yourself kits now for teeth whitening, but you can also talk to your dentist about the services they offer.

Your gum health is also critical when looking at cosmetic dentistry. If your gums are asymmetrical in the tissue contours, you can have this corrected in 1 visit by the right cosmetic dentist. This may seem small, but fixing your gums is a little like fixing the foundation of a house. Unless these are healthy and in the right place your smile may not know its true potential.

If you notice white or dark spots on your teeth and/or gums, often this can be fixed with an acidic-micro-abrasion scrub. This aren't too costly, but can be a very effective treatment against spotting. Often this is something that is done without any numbing required, and typically takes only one visit.

Back to teeth whitening for a moment - you should exercise additional caution when using bleach trays. Many safer methods are now available, but make sure you are aware that bleaching can cause a blue shaded hue on your teeth and also weaken enamel. Check out some of the over the counter products available which won't cost much money.

Although DIY teeth whitening has become a booming industry, you can still expect better results when using products from your dentist. Similar to how you get stronger medication with prescription, the dentist provides a kit that is custom fit to your mouth to limit irritation, and to produce better results.

Take advantage of all these improvements in cosmetic dentistry, and get a brighter, whiter smile in a short amount of time.
