Living With Bed Bugs

By Albert Wright

Bed bugs have seriously affected people for tens of thousands of years. Their presence in your own home does not mean that you are not clean or hygienic. In reality, bed bugs are even present in the best hotels on the planet.

As already mentioned, man and bed bugs have been regular foes for a very long time. As a matter of fact, according to the fossil record, the oldest fossil clues dates back more than 3 thousand years to an area in northern Africa. They have in fact been written about by people such as Aristotle as well as Pliny. When it comes to pest control in Singapore or elsewhere, bed bugs are a challenge. Coping with bed bugs takes stringent pest control. For individuals who have an infestation, a bed bugs solutionwhich has already been confirmed effective becomes obligatory.

A little known truth about bed bugs, unless you have had exposure to them, is they give off a fairly sweet smell. The aroma will only be detectable to human noses should there be a sizable concentration of bed bugs. The odor does not derive from the bug itself, but instead from their droppings. The moment one can smell them, you know the infestation of bed bugs has started to become really serious. Most individuals find the odor to be sickly sweet and also disagreeable.

The bed bug mating approach is something somewhat interesting, particularly since the male actually pierces the female's belly with his knife-like penis in a mating style known as traumatic fertilization. When that has happened, his sperm enters into her bloodstream. Male bed bugs just focus on females who have just recently gorged themselves on the blood of their host, and whose systems have swelled as much as three times their typical, apple seed size.

The male uses his distinctly knife-like penis to pierce the female's belly, thus releasing his sperm into her bloodstream. The female will probably mate as much as 5 times each time she has eaten, and will lay as much as 500 eggs in her three hundred day life expectancy.
