Discover important tips on how to overcome self esteem today.

1. Discover yourself. Go ahead, think about all the things about you that make you- you. More importantly, appreciate everything that you discover. Improve what you can about your weaknesses but focus more on enhancing your strengths. Do things that you love to do and enjoy life! It's a good thing to be happy.

2. Do something for someone. Self-pity makes us feel bad about ourselves and the solution to that is to look outward-meaning stop looking at yourself and begin to look for ways to help other people. It will make you feel better, guaranteed. You don't have to spend much or work hard at it, even just a smile and an encouraging word can make somebody's day a whole lot brighter.

3. Separate yourself from negative influences. This means that you need to keep away from negative people that thrive on negative energy. Take constructive criticism, but do not allow yourself to be pulled down by people who are always complaining about something. Choose to keep company with positive people and you will enjoy a lighter and more enjoyable life.

4. Learn how to receive compliments. People think it's humble to think low of themselves; or they really don't have a high opinion of who they are. Stop right there. Know this: you are important and you are a valuable contribution to people around you. Accept the compliments given to you graciously. Even if they aren't completely accurate, respect the opinion of the giver of the compliment and be happy about yourself!

5. Do not compare yourself with other people. Everybody has their own story on why they are who they are. You may not be where you want to be and see other people enjoying the life you want but don't let that discourage you. Life is good and you will be blessed also. Being happy for other people is an integral aspect of improving self esteem.

6. Realize that you are born with a purpose. All the things that make up your person is there for a reason.
