Is The Affirmation Approach Purely A Personal Approach?

By James Carpenter

Have you always been in love with affirmations? Have you always heard people say that affirmations are working for them? Or are you one of the skeptics who cannot seem to believe anything about how affirmations work?

Whatever you believe in and whatever you think, you need to know about how affirmations work and regardless of whether affirmations are actually a simply personal approach.

Are affirmations a personal approach? There are two views on this matter:

The first view is about the positive. Psychologists assume that affirmations and the technique of affirmations is purely an individual approach. It is an approach that individuals do in order to make sure that their days will begin good and actually great.

For example, when you say to yourself that you are beautiful in the morning, it has a different effect than when someone else says it, especially when you have low self esteem. People with low self esteem often do not believe the compliments, although positive, that other people say. Therefore, affirmations and the road to the success of the affirmations often work from the inside and this is what the positive view entails.

Second view is on the actual negative side that affirmations are certainly not a personal approach and that there's a need for individuals to own support that they need for affirmations to operate.

For example, when people say something positive about another person, it affirms something within them that helps them move on with their problems and believe the things that they need to believe in.

An excerpt from Scientific Healing is saying that "Man's word is Character in man. Spoken words are sounds occasioned because of the vibrations of thoughts; thoughts are vibrations sent forth because of the ego or by the soul"

This means that individuals often need the words of others to sent positive thoughts and vibrations to the soul of others.

Where Do All of us Stand Now?

Finally, the question focuses on 'where do we stand now'? Now that we know the two views on affirmations, where do we stand? Well, the answer is simply it depends. People have different personalities and have different beliefs. Therefore, there are different effects when it comes to people and affirmations.

Hence, if affirmations are not helping you right now. Remember to give it time and you ought to see a difference when you put the mind and soul in it. Points, even the effect of statements and affirmations, often take time, always keep this in mind.
