All About The Concrete Color Pigment

By Kerri Stout

Although there are a lot of available natural materials like woods and metals, ready made concrete mixture is also readily available. However, this material still needs to be stained or coated. There are many methods to give life and color to this mixture.

The mixing process increases the number of strategies in coloring a concrete. Concrete color pigment is available in a form of liquid, powder or granule. Powdered pigments are placed in a disintegrating bag that will dissolve when it will be added to the mixture. It will greatly help in reducing the tendency of inhaling the powder.

The color black is one of the most famous that are used by many. It can give a great shade of gray to a lighter black. It is generally used on most runways, roadways, parking lots and driveways, for the reason of covering and lessen the stains that you may see produced by the oils of the vehicles that are passing by every day. It absorbs heat and ice occurrence.

There are two sorts of a pigment, the iron oxide and the carbon. The carbon pigment gives a darker shade while the other gives a gray hue. But, the carbon sort will easily wear out over time compared to the other.

They also come in a liquid form. It is either a natural or synthetic form and it is usually measured in volume, similar to the measuring process of a paint. It will be put together with the material during the mixing process. The downside of a natural one is that it only offers earth tones. Synthetic on the other hand, offers almost all shades that you might know.

Sometimes it can cause some hue variations, like curing methods and different finishing. It is suggested that you should not use a liquid pigment because it can result to an uneven coloring finish. It is also suggested that you should use aggregates and water with salts. For they can cause a white powdery effect that is known as the efflorescence.

In general, a granulated form is used together with a dry to wet system of metering that will provide a cost effective strategy to create a liquid form. Concrete businesses usually can purchase granulated one and they will mix it with water. It will be placed in a tank and eventually it will be dispensed straight into the mixing truck. You can save a lot of its shipping costs one, for it weighs less than the liquid.

There are also techniques that you need to know. Staining is one, it can be done after the mixture has set and cured. The rubbed stain is a technique that refers to the rubbing of fine powdered color into the texture. After obtaining the right shade, you will going to apply a topical sealer to bond the colouring on the surface. The resist technique, on the other hand, is the mixing of hue with some sealant and brushing it. These two techniques will need to have a topical solution to be applied again over time.

A method known as the color wash is a method same as the painting. It will be mixed with a water based solution. And when you obtain the appropriate hue, you will be brushing it with sealant. It will give you a great finish.
