Jesus Christ is viewed as the only Son of God with no brother or sister. In fact, the only other mention made is that of an antichrist which is a reverse of what Christians expect in Jesus. However, it is possible to decipher different types of Christ that are collaborated in both the Old Testament and the New Testaments. Here is a look at the manifestations and what they mean for Christians.
Tree of Life. The bible refers to the tree in different words. It is a vine, olive, branch and such other words. Trees are naturally known to be the homes of birds and other animals. They also provide them with food. Genesis chapter 2 verse 9 refer to a tree planted in the middle of the garden. This is the same tree referred to in Revelations chapter 22 verse 2 where the tree, in reference to Jesus, becomes the source of healing for human kind.
The Ark. Noah built the ark to save people from death and destruction as entered in Genesis chapter 7 verse 16. John chapter 10 verse 28 gives an account of Jesus who gives people life such that no one can snatch this life from them. Those who come to Jesus will not perish, just like those who entered the ark.
Passover Lamb. The Israelites who were saved in Egypt were asked to sacrifice a lamb without blemish. It is this act that gave them blood to mark their doors and therefore gain salvation. This is captured in Exodus 12. The New Testament in John 1,29 captures John the Baptist declaring, Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
Manna. Finding food in the desert was tough for Israelites over the 40 years. Their salvation came through manna as is stated in Exodus 16. This sent a signal that God was food and by extension the source of life. The gospel of John in chapter 6 verse 35 captures the words of Jesus declaring that he is the bread of life. If you come to him, you will never go hungry or feel thirsty, just like manna did to Israelites in the desert.
The rock of life and salvation. When Moses approached God seeking water as they crossed the desert, he was told to strike a stone. From the strike as captured in Exodus 17, they got water and life by extension. Calvary was a reenactment of the same scene when the soldier speared Christ on the side. Water and blood flowed, a sign of salvation. This water and rock are referred spiritually in 1st Corinthians 10. The bible says that Christians had Jesus as their spiritual water from a rock.
The temple. The dwelling place of God was the temple. Without a temple, there was a feeling of emptiness. When Israelites built the temple in 1st Kings chapter 6, they were preparing for the presence of God to enable them get life. In John chapter 2, Jesus says that once the temple is destroyed, he will raise it in three days. He was pointing at his death.
There is no denying that Jesus features in both the old and new testaments. The similarities are unmistakably vivid. If automatically follows that Jesus is the Son of God referred to in many images and fulfilled in gospels of the New Testament.
