Garden Lighting Tips and Advice

By Solomon Kavou

If you choose your garden lighting design carefully and with a lot of forthought you can bring your garden to life in the evenings and be the envy of your neighbors and friends. Whether admiring the view from a window in the evening or enjoying the outdoors with friends on a warm summer night, garden lights can really add the wow factor to your home.

Garden lights can transform your garden but the most important aspect to consider is the safety and security of yourself and your property. Think about using rope lights to outline the driveway and keep vehicles on the right path. Assist yourself and your visitors with some subtle, undercover moonlights along the garden path to add a soft glow that won't blind anyone. Lighting that is tastefully placed along the path can be hidden and low in voltage to provide a soft glow.

It does not need to be over stressed that anything you can do to reduce the risk of burgulary should be implimented. Burgulars look for easy targets and a well lit home will instantly rule out your home as a potential target for the majority of burgulars.

The most popular types of garden lights on the market today are solar garden lights and low voltage soft lights or moonlights. Low level lighting is wonderful for creating sublte ambience in your garden and is very cost effective. Beautiful effects can be created for 30 dollars or less.

You might want to, for example, place subtle low voltage moonlights around a pool or Koi pond with a soft blue hue which brings a wondeful tranquil ambience to the area. If you are looking to create a party atmosphere for barbecues for example then soft lights placed around the seating areas with pastel shades can work beautifully.

Work out your budget and no matter how small that is you can add subtle effects to your garden with carefully chosen lighting that will really bring your garden to life in the evenings. And with solar lighting you can experiment easily to find the right design for you.
