Lighting Tips for a Beautiful Twilight Garden

By Solomon Kavou

Garden lights, if carefully and tastefully chosen, can add ambience, safety and security to the home. From outdoor barbecues to summer dances or just spending a quiet evening in the garden, outdoor lights add the necessary illumination for being able to see. If you have an outdoor swimming pool then outdoor garden lights can really bring the space to life and looks great in the long summer nights.

Although the added ambience and beauty that outdoor garden lighting can bring is a wonderful aspect it should always be secondary to the importance of adding additional security and safety to your home. Security is obvious, as a well lit exterior can be an immediate deterrent to any potential burgular but well lit pathways also reduce the risk of accidents for yourselves and any visitors.

It does not need to be over stressed that anything you can do to reduce the risk of burgulary should be implimented. Burgulars look for easy targets and a well lit home will instantly rule out your home as a potential target for the majority of burgulars.

Low voltage outdoor lighting sets are becomming more and more popular as they are used for subtle lighting effects that can bring a wondeful soft ambience to your garden. A wide range of designs can be achieved with a combination of low lighting and soft hues and it doesn't need to cost you a fortune.

In a similar way to creating a design in your home you ideally want to accentuate the strong features of your garden. For example, you might have a pool or pond or maybe just a sculpture or even a bird bath that you could focus some subtle lighting on. Be careful with lighting human form statues though as these can look suprisingly disturbing when lit from below.

Your home will not only look beautiful from the outside but the more important aspect of safety and security is improved. Garden lights can make a big difference to your garden for a variety of reasons and great results can be achieved with even a small budget.
