Protect Yourself With A Dog Repeller

By Steve Thibeault

We tend to view our four-legged companions as very precious. Some people call a dog "man's best friend" and we have certainly taken dogs and cats to our side over the generations, entrusting them as our most precious companions. Whether you classify yourself as a dog lover or a cat lover, you will do anything you can for your pets.

The relationship between human beings and dogs, in particular, is not always as rosy as it might seem. Certainly, there are some varieties of canine that are known to be aggressive and some varieties are still bred to be hunting dogs. Sometimes, an encounter with one of these animals is not at all pleasant and this is where a dog repeller would come in very handy.

Considered getting an ultrasonic dog repeller should you come across a dog exhibiting aggressive behavior. Whilst there are laws covering breeds known to be particularly mean, don't forget that any dog can turn nasty given the wrong set of circumstances.

A dog repeller gives a dog a very quick lesson that he does not want to be dealing with you. The unit combines painful sounds with bright lights and emits an ultrasonic frequency of between 20,000 and 25,000 Hz. Whilst human beings cannot hear this tone, animals most certainly can. This frequency is known to be quite painful to them and they become confused by looking at the flashing LED lights.

If you sense an unwanted dog you can use the dog repeller at a distance of up to 40 feet. All you need to do is to point the item at the animal and press the button. The high frequency does not actually harm the animal but it is unpleasant and will invariably cause it to run the other way.

The ultrasonic dog repeller was initially designed for training. If you want to use the item for training, combine its use with spoken commands and hand gestures. Don't sound the tone for long periods and make sure that you reward the dog for appropriate behavior. The dog repeller can be a useful training or self-defense product.

Consider the situations where a dog repeller can be useful to you. If you are a jogger or bicyclist you could suddenly find yourself confronted by a dog acting in a territorial manner. If your job causes you to walk into and out of properties, such as during mail delivery, you could definitely use this product. A dog trainer can definitely take advantage of this unit, if used carefully. Many people have an excessive fear of dogs and they might want to carry the unit for peace of mind.

You only need to use an electronic dog repeller sparingly. It is a great self-defense item for use in any emergency situation of this kind. The dog will scamper the other way and will not bother you anymore.
