The Four Stages of Mind Over Matter

By Al Case

May the force be with you, young Luke. Did the Egyptians really lift those pyramidal building blocks with just the power of their minds? I wanna be able to do all that mind over matter stuff!

Hey, who doesn't want to have that stuff. The problem is, you don't see anybody else who has that kind of stuff, either. Even the bible, translated through eighty different special interest groups, is not entirely believable when it comes to examples of mind over matter.

That said, the first stage in learning how to have powers of mind over matter is to learn that the body is a machine. This can be done through many different methods, but the best one I have found is good old martial arts. You have to translate a lot of stuff into physics, and there is a lot of bushwah out there, but if you stick to the empirical method you can actually isolate True Martial Arts.

The second stage is learning how to actually use your mind. The first stage, in teaching you that the body is a machine, acquaints you with this fact, but most people misunderstand what has happened. They think they have to build ever stronger bodies, when, at a certain point, they have to use their bodies less, and energy less, and let their mental powers transcend any desire for a stronger body.

The second stage, interesting enough, deals with the ability to understand the flow of the martial arts, such as in Aikido, or Pa Kua, or others of the soft arts. Once flow is mastered, the stage of imagination, the third stage of learning how to have powers of mind over matter, starts to manifest. Can you make somebody fall down using just your intent, as opposed to actually touching them...can you make people back away from you just by glancing at them.

The fourth stage is going to open up for you after you can do the things I have just told you about. This is going to be where you make physical objects levitate off the earth. The question is, can you take just your imagination and make reality do what you want?

Can you imagine a stone lifting, and just because you imagined it lifting? This is not muscle, this is the opposite of muscle. Remember, however, that muscle is necessary on the first stage.

The real key is in understanding the true physics of the universe, not in the mystical approach, for mysticism is the fact not really understanding what you are perceiving. The real key is to learn how to run imagination through your body, and then being able to manifest that imagination on the world that is outside your body. Of course, at this point, you should probably go back and examine the first stage of the martial arts, and find a workable method for actually isolating the exact physics of what the true martial arts are really all about.
