A huge music festival that takes place during the Australian summer, this event is in the spirit of traveling road shows, and it is huge. Your favorite bands, such as Placebo (be still our beating hearts), Coldplay, and PJ Harvey just to name a few, are just some of the big names drawn to Big Day Out.
And film lovers cannot pass up on the Tropfest Film Festival. A festival of short films, it takes place over one night in February, right in Sydney. Up and coming filmmakers get to showcase their work, and film lovers get first shot at seeing what could be the next big thing.
Add into this, of course, the hundreds of more casual, natural things Australia has to offer and you really cannot go wrong. White sandy beaches, turquoise waters, beautiful scenery and landscapes, and of course plenty of clubs, bars, and restaurants are all there for the taking.
