Gay Travel Deals To Australia

By Howie Holben

Going on gay vacations to Australia represent a huge opportunity to have the best time you have ever imagined. Many people dream of going to Australia, and with good reason. For one thing, the country (and continent) is amazingly beautiful. For another, the culture is such that it is ideal for an LGBT holiday. Who does not want to go down under? For the experience of a lifetime, you absolutely have got to go.

A visit to Australia offers up a wealth of opportunities for fun. There are literally tons of activities to do and thousands of things to see. One of the most amazing activities there is the fabulous Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. You got that right, Australia has a Mardi Gras celebration of its very own, especially for the gay and lesbian community! The only catch is that you have to make sure you have a fantastic costume!

In the same vein, there are the Birdsville Races as well. These races are not what you might be picturing on your head. Sure, there is plenty of beer and even lots of betting on the races. However, this event gives Sydney's Mardi Gras a definite run for its money. Like Ascot with an edge, the more flamboyant the better is the name of this game, especially when it comes to the costume you wear. And the fun can go on all night long, with people arriving the day before the big race!

For some sophisticated fun, kind of, you can join in the fun of the Hobart Yacht Race in Sydney. Make room on your calendar for Boxing Day, when this event is a huge draw. It is not all about the yachts, either. This event is a wealth of color, fun, and sport. Get a crew of your friends to come with you, have a picnic, and really get into the spirit!

Music lovers have to take their vacation during the BDO, or Big Day Out. A huge music festival that takes place during the Australian summer, this event is in the spirit of traveling road shows, and it is huge. Your favorite bands, such as Placebo (be still our beating hearts), Coldplay, and PJ Harvey just to name a few, are just some of the big names drawn to Big Day Out.

And film lovers cannot pass up on the Tropfest Film Festival. A festival of short films, it takes place over one night in February, right in Sydney. Up and coming filmmakers get to showcase their work, and film lovers get first shot at seeing what could be the next big thing.

Add into this, of course, the hundreds of more casual, natural things Australia has to offer and you really cannot go wrong. White sandy beaches, turquoise waters, beautiful scenery and landscapes, and of course plenty of clubs, bars, and restaurants are all there for the taking. Swimming, sailing, hiking, exploring; dancing, eating, and drinking; relaxing, chilling, and enjoying yourself: there are literally no limits to the amount of fun you can have when you go down under.

Gay vacations to Australia can easily be the most amazing holidays of a lifetime. There is no better place to have fun and be yourself. Make sure you have a group of great people in tow and you truly cannot go wrong!
