When body builders train with big muscle groups that would involve exercises such as dead lifts and squats, they would say that they will feel lightheaded, nauseous, and sometimes they would even puke. An indication that they have had a fantastic workout is if they puke after an intensive bout of weightlifting which is why some great bodybuilders would take pride in this. But besides being unpleasant, many of them find these symptoms to be disruptive and could even be dangerous and cause injuries. Perhaps, you may also have experienced these symptoms as well.
What happened? Well, there could be several causes.
First of all, you may have eaten or drunk too much before your gym workout. To your digestive organs is where the blood is channeled for your digestive process. However, when you start to intensively exercise especially on big muscle groups, then a lot of blood is channeled away from your digestive organs to the muscles. Food is now in your digestive systems left unattended when that happens and therefore undigested which is what could be causing you to feel nauseous.
There's also the possibility that your blood is sugar is low. This can likely occur when your diet consists of low carbohydrate and caloric restriction or maybe you have not eaten for a while and you're now lifting heavy weights. You will feel giddy, tired and may even develop a headache and suffering muscular weakness. A decrease of energy level for not having enough energy nutrients prior to your workout is what this will all boil down to.
When you are weight lifting, the most common cause of nausea is low blood pressure. This could mean that you have low blood pressure or if you don't, then it can be caused by change of body position. Have you ever felt giddy when you are sitting stationary for sometime then suddenly gotten up and stretch? Well, if you have had that experience, then the same logic and science applies. When you are in a squatting position and then suddenly, you burst upwards to a standing position, there could be a sudden fall of blood pressure as the blood is pooled in your lower body and not sending the blood fast enough to your upper body and brain.
Many of us will experience giddiness, nausea, and even puke when we do exercises like squats and dead lifts with heavy weights and when we work on big muscle groups because of some of these reasons.
We will be able to avoid these unpleasant symptoms because we now know the reasons which means we can take the necessary precautions during our gym workout on heavy weight days.
