How Women Could Keep Themselves Secure

By Mikale A Oshby

I work in a cafe, so it is only normal for me to return home at around 2 o'clock in the morning whenever I am on the closing schedule. Since my apartment is a mere a couple of blocks away from where I work, I normally stroll back home.

Last week's news reports, however, made me ponder whether or not my evening strolls home were still safe. A female in her late 20's was found lifeless, with indications of being raped, on a dimly lit alleyway just a block from my apartment. That awful event jolted me into searching for the best pepper spray for women out on the market.

Pepper spray is a non-lethal tool that, when sprayed, causes a painful sensation, similar to a burning feeling, on the face as well as in the eyes. This causes the recipient temporary incapacitation, giving you plenty of time to get away and also ask for help.

After performing some research on several defense sprays, I was debating with myself over which was a far better personal safety gadget: a disguised pepper spray or a small pepper spray. On one side, the former offers an element of surprise. Considering that it appears nothing like a self-defense device, your attacker will have no clue what hit him or her.

The latter, on the other hand, due to its size, can be hidden readily from view. You can hold it within your hand while walking so that you are ready for any kind of attack.

It was a good thing that I found these two attributes in a lipstick pepper spray. As a disguised pepper spray, it appears exactly like a lipstick tube. And as far as lipstick tubes are concerned, it is likewise small.

The -ounce container features 20 half-second bursts which can reach a distance of ten feet when sprayed. You can disable your own assailant even before she or he gets too close to you.

For me, the best pepper spray for women is one that can guarantee their safety and that they can hold in their hand perfectly but inconspicuously.
