You've read all the self-help books: Attitude is everything! Change your perspective! Have a positive outlook! Can these ideas really change your future? And if so, how? In my childhood and adolescence, I was skeptical. Let's fact it, if my brother was born without being able to walk, how could my attitude or outlook change anything? As I got older I continued to reflect on a youth seemingly filled with disappointments and doubts. In talking to my friends and family, I realized I wasn't alone, we've all experienced them. Then, I started taking a good, long look at myself and my feelings. I realized that my deepest feelings were the ones guiding me forward, challenging me to reach to the depth of what I was able to feel - happy or sad. In the end, these feelings allowed me to explore all dimensions of my being.
The task before us then is to become aware of the background beliefs and affirmations we're running, challenge their validity for us today and if they no longer serve our well-being, eliminate and replace them with positive thought patterns that will help us make our goals. Many of the goals women have in today's society are still a challenge to achieve - even thought the women's liberation movement is now several decades along, women still face the pressures of discrimination, balancing home and career, and a workplace environment still skewed to favor our complimentary sex. So, to give ourselves the best possible advantage on our paths to accomplishment, we must take the time to tailor our mental/emotional/spiritual disciplines to suit our needs and not the perceptions of society - the difference between practicing generalized positive affirmations from a list you find on the internet and customized, positive affirmations for women designed by yourself for your unique situation, is that by customizing your affirmations you are actively taking responsibility for the results you get and addressing the issues that have created scarcity or pain of some nature - you are reclaiming your power from what you decided had authority over you.
Affirmations are different. They allow you to reveal the secret, powerful, depths of yourself and care for your being by affirming what is there. Do you feel a calling toward a particular feeling you have been having? Is there something in your life that you need and desire to manifest? If you can use your mind's eye to creatively visualize, you can bring forward all that you desire. How? Simply affirm that is already here.Creating Affirmations. The key to the success of an affirmation is its potential or the potentiality of your creative thought. The laws of the universe will respond then not to your asking for what you wish, but rather your affirmation that it is already here. Look at these statements:
If at first your affirmations feel awkward, forced or phony - that's good! Any feelings of discomfort means that you're stepping out of your comfort zone (fear), you're creating inner change and ruffling the feathers of your ego self, who wants to keep you safe. Safety to the ego self is maintaining the status quo - no changes allowed. So please appreciate what's really happening and use it as fuel to gain momentum; you can use the feelings and thoughts about your discomfort to create a new, empowering affirmation for yourself! The discomfort will dissolve once you get into a daily rhythm and develop some confidence.Do it anyways. At the beginning of your exercises, don't worry about whether you believe your affirmations or not, the effectiveness is in the repetition. Belief in your statements will develop as a result of the repetition and meaning you give your affirmations, so choose wisely. Any resistance that you experience, including thoughts about what nonsense all this new age stuff is, are excuses to keep you safe and free from change. Resistance is also an opportunity for you to break out of the conditioned responses of the past - try being open and see the opportunity in learning something new about yourself; you may be pleasantly surprised at what you discover inside!
I am abundant! I am loved.Applying An Affirmation.Make the laws of affirmation work in your life. Let's focus for a moment on the "word" aspect of this equation. The words I am are a very powerful tool. "I AM" tells the universe to put the wheels of energy in motion. These two words trigger the universe and let it know you are ready to receive your prayer. Can you see the importance of this process?
According to Abraham Hicks, the pioneers of Law of Attraction, you first have to get into the vortex. Because, until you get into the vortex, until you use the positive affirmations for self-esteem, until you are in a state of understanding that you are good enough, your mind won't be able to accept your affirmations. Here are 4 simple steps you can follow to use affirmations for self-esteem.Get into the vortex - Getting into the vortex means getting into a state of bliss and in alignment with your desires. You can do that easily by creating lists. Take a pen and paper and list down 10-20 of the best qualities about yourself. Make a list of positive aspects of a situation. With every other listing, your quality of feeling good will rise and in less than an hour, you will be able to get in the vortex with ease.
Waiting The Results In Peace.Remember the statement: "All good things come to those who wait?" This statement is of great importance here. Once you have affirmed and have written your intentions, the action needs to come from you. Think: If I already have what I wish, what would I do? For example: If I am trying to manifest "beautiful" - I need to ask myself: Am I wearing beautiful clothing? Am I honoring my body with exercise and nutrition? If not, I need to take a long look at how I am treating myself. If I wasn't feeling beautiful before, perhaps treating myself better is what I need to heal.Take a moment today to focus on what you need to heal. Continue to apply the affirmation process. I think you will find it to be a powerful tool. Remember: Affirm, take action and "wait the results in peace." For it is as one of my favorite spiritual councilors, Iyanla Vanzant, says: "You don't get what you ask for, you get what you believe."
Affirm as if it's already done. The reason for this is because our subconscious mind doesn't understand the concept of time - to the subconscious, everything is now, there is no "later" or "yesterday". Be bold, be simple and be clear with your wording; always affirm using positive words in the present tense (not future tense). I.e. "I am now speaking with power and confidence in the office meetings." contains the result of what you're striving for versus "I will learn to speak with power and confidence in the office meetings." The second example is unclear as it leaves the outcome in the future and dilutes the goal to learning to speak up.
Repetition- Positive affirmations work best when spoken often. I've found through years of experience and research on affirmations that choosing one or two affirmations to work on at a time is best, otherwise you'll likely get scattered results. Try to remember to say out loud or meditate on your affirmation as you are waking up in the morning and as you are falling asleep at night. Another couple of ways to reinforce your affirmations are to write one or two of them on index cards and keep that on your nightstand... read the affirmations right before you go to bed, and right before you get up in the morning.
When practicing positive affirmations, for women or within any distinct group, being aware of the customary or habitual roles we've identified with in that group will help us to free ourselves from the restrictions of those roles and aid us in re-defining ourselves to better express and enjoy who we are in truth. Applying the 5 key points of being persistent and consistent to give ourselves the best chance at success; of having faith in your vision by doing it even when you feel uncomfortable because you understand positive change is taking place; of being crystal clear about your goals and amassing mountains of reasons to keep you on course and propel yourself through the tough times; of courageously challenging outworn and outdated beliefs that hold us back and reclaiming our power from them; and affirming as though your goal is a done deal to give your dreams emotional fuel and vitality will give your affirmations weight and authority to power yourself into a future of your own deliberate creation. No one else will do this for you, and taking command of your thoughts, visions and emotions is a potent gift to yourself - enjoy your new powerful and positive results!
