The Way To Guard Yourself From Surprise Wildlife Encounters

By Harri D Gatsch

I got up from sleep drenched in sweat, my heart pounding. I was dreaming a grizzly was pursuing me and I tripped, turned on my back and attempted groping for a weapon. A large paw was coming to my face the instant I snapped out of the dream. My palm was on my waist, and I understood I was looking for my Mace brand bear pepper spray.

We are prepared to head out camping this weekend, and my uncle suggested that we carry protection from grizzly bears, preferably one that is non-deadly. So, bear self defense spray, it is. Uniquely formulated for these types of wildlife residents, its results are immediate, but fade away eventually.

Before acquiring one, I read it is the more preferred animal repellent than firearms, that can bring about permanent damage to both grizzlies as well as humans. Besides, panic is the first reaction the minute met with grizzlies. Thus, unless you are highly skilled at shooting, you reduce the probabilities of driving the bear away and increase the odds of your being hurt.

The majority of grizzly bear encounters are surprises thus swift reflexes are required to become effective in utilizing bear repellent. Even coming from a length of 35 feet, my spray can disable a grizzly and also provide me enough time to escape.

Defense spray for grizzly bears causes momentary blindness and confusion, and makes it hard for the animals to breathe. More importantly, this teaches the bears a lesson so they ultimately keep away from people after their horrible experience.

Uncle Ben encouraged that we get a holster to hold the 9.2 oz. can of EPA approved pepper formulation. In this way, it is within easy reach in the event of a bear strike. He then stated we need to practice spraying directly from the holster just in case we can't get that out quickly.

The formula of 2 percent capsaicinoids is the greatest in the market, making it even more dangerous for people, who should never be in contact with bear spray.

It seems like we have been ready for our outdoor camping. And I patted the Mace bear spray in my own backpack, feeling secure with this.
