Achieve Stunning Results By Finding Out How To Meditate Properly

By Christine Ramsey

Meditation is a very useful tool. Many people just do not know how to meditate. This is a way to help your mind to not think of the everyday worries. This could include things about work, finances or even the little every day to day things.

Transcendental Meditation is a method that helps one to relax and reduces stress. This movement was introduced in the mid 1950s into India's population. It was to become more popular in the 1960s and 70s and many celebrities have now started practicing it. It was specifically directed to business people and students but since the late 2000s million of people worldwide have been taught this technique. Since the beginning of 1965, this method has been incorporated into certain schools, universities, prisons and corporations.

Trying to keep your mind in the present could be very challenging. Practice will be needed to achieve this and to be able to keep your mind from wondering. It is human nature to think about all different things when one is sitting quietly. If this sounds too difficult try something like painting or drawing. If you love to be in the outdoors tending to your garden, try that. This is known as expressive meditation and specialists believe that it lies in the right cerebral hemisphere of your brain.

There is a dramatic decrease of muscle tension and improves the oxygen circulation throughout the entire body. It helps to decrease the rate your heart pumps and is very beneficial to those that suffer from high blood pressure. It will lower the levels of blood lactate which will reduce any anxiety attacks.

Some will argue that it is a way to retreat from the world, but it is actually a way to give you peace of mind as well as giving you inspiration. It helps one to learn how to change your attitude towards life and increases your relationship with not only your family but with God as well. You will be more able to accept yourself and to forgive others.

This helps the mind to age slower and to remember things longer. Many tend to suffer from some or other fear or phobias as well as having mood swings; this will help the mind to overcome this behavior. It improves the learning ability and increases creativity as well.

In order for one to be able to do this practice, you will need to have a quiet place. Sit down with a straight back and close your eyes gently. Keep repeating one word over and over; this is referred to as a mantra. The Christians have used the word "Maranatha" saying it in four syllables. Do not hold your breath while doing this and concentrate while speaking the word. It is easier if you stay with the same word everyday as it will help to alleviate any lingering stress.

Learning to do meditation is not difficult. It can be done anywhere at any time of the day or night. When you feel like there is too much going on in your head and can't seem to clear it, this will be a good time.
