The Need Of A Perfect Piecing Seam Guide

By Kenya Campos

More fashion schools are nowadays emerging due to the fast changing designs today. Most people are getting into the fashion world and the need for perfect designers is arising. Because of this there is the need of a perfect piecing seam guide. People who are into fashion need perfect designs which are not only ideal but neat and fitting to the letter, also with good finishing. A good designer has to know how to use a sewing machine very well.

While seaming is defined as the art of joining two edges of a line especially a cloth. So as to have a perfect piecing seam it is advisable that the quarter inch is maintained for consistency even when changing machines. The following are some of the procedures used in using piecing seams directive. The first thing that one needs to do is positioning the perfect piecing guide under the presser foot. The hole in the guide is where your needle goes through. Then the directive should be lined straight with the throat plate.

The next thing to do is, next to the seams directive you should place a sewing edge but a small piece. A tape can be used to hold the sewing edge in place. After all these the guide can be removed and the edge u formed can lead you as you stitch.

A scant quarter inch is important to have because much space is taken up by the thread and fabric and if not careful especially when making something with many seams, you might end up with a smaller than expected design.

But in case you will want to undo a seam there are seams rippers for that purpose. There are also manual sewing machines and the electronic ones. Most tailors prefer to use the electronic sewing machine to the manual one because it is faster meaning that a lot of work can be done over a short period of time, the only disadvantage being that work comes to a standstill when there is no electricity.

The electric sewing machines are the most preferred by most designers because they are fast and so much work can be done in a short period of time as opposed to the manual machines where the designer has to do all work manually, getting tired fast with only a few designs made. The electric machines are only disadvantaged in that one has to have electricity throughout.

In order for a tailor to have an ideal design and less material wastage and neat finishing, a perfect seam is necessary. Adjusting to the quarter inch sewing technology can be a problem to quilters, so it takes longer teaching the for them to know how to make use if it, but as soon as they learn it makes work easier and faster for them.

The discovery of this guides has been a great help to tailor because it helps in making perfect seams unlike in the old times where many tailors would approximate the seams, which in most cases led to poor results.
