How Epoxy Floor Coating Must Be Applied

They are also utilizing paints, as well. The paints will be adding beauty to their residences, especially on the walls and the floors. For the latter, they are typically purchasing Ohio epoxy floor coating. An owner should be following these steps for him to be effectively applying the sealer on his floor.

Different epoxies are available nowadays and are dependent on the manufacturers of these products. However, three ingredients are usually contained in these products which are the resin, catalyst, and pigment. Their prices should be checked and those that could be afforded by them should be bought. The quantities of epoxies needed for their projects should also be identified.

The coatings already present on these surfaces should be determined first by the individuals. Coatings of certain types are not good substrates for the products. Tests can be done for previous coatings to be determined. One part muriatic acid mixed with four parts water can be used for the tests. These mixtures can be dripped to various areas. Coatings are not present if there are yellow stains.

They should also look for oil or grease stains. These stains may come from their automobiles or other sources. They should remove these stains before they will apply epoxy. They can utilize industrial degreasers for the removal of these stains. They should also look for tire residue and remove them, as well. They should sand or ground them off.

The homeowner should be etching the floor with a masonry cleaner. A kit will typically be having a cleaner inside and the person should be following the instructions for use. He might have to be utilizing a brush in this case. This process is important for the pores of the concrete to be opening up and allowing the paints to be sticking properly to them.

The surfaces should be wet and made moist through garden hoses. Afterwards, the same acid with water solutions should be poured evenly to them. The areas should be scrubbed until foamy reactions appear. Once the entire floors are completed, they should be rinsed well and excess water should be broomed out.

The owner should be letting the area dry completely. He should be allocating a week to ten days in this case. This way, he could see to it that moisture will not be existing in the site. A wet surface will be repelling the paint, resulting to imperfections. In testing its dryness, the person could be placing a vinyl tile overnight and checking for dark appearances on it the next morning. A dark appearance is indicating the existence of moisture.

Once these floors have dried, the sealers can be applied by the homeowners. The directions of their usage found on the back labels of the commodities should be followed. These areas can also be designed if they like to. Once the projects are finished, used materials should be disposed properly. These places should be left as is until fully dry.
