Causes and Treatments of Gynecomastia

By Caleb Lee

The word Gynecomastia means development of female like mammary tissues (in males). The prime cause of the disorder is the female hormone estrogen that gets passed on to the newborn baby boy from mother. Over time, it causes breast development in male. In severe cases the breast like organ in males also secrete milk.

As mentioned in the paragraph above, the mail cause of gynecomastia is presence of female hormone estrogen. This results in the disorder being present in males in childhood or adolescence or adult men. Apart from the hormon reason, it is also caused from unadminsitered drug use, steroids, obesity and genetic disorder.

Gynecomastia is caused by the excess production of estrogen hormone and relatively scant production of testosterone hormone which is essential for every male body. Sometimes a chronic illness, like kidney disease or liver disease may cause Gynecomastia. And, often the medication taken for the disease can cause the disease. The medicines that are known to have caused man boobs include cimetidine, spironolactone, omeprazole, finasteride.

The cure lies in restoring the hormonal imbalance. While one way to address the disorder is in increasing the secretion of prolactin from the pituitary gland which blocks the function of dopamine. The other, but very effective way, is to be treated by medicines which react directly and just on breast tissues by destroying them selectively. Medicines which are used for the treatment of prostrate cancer can also become a cause for Gynecomastia.

Genetic also plays a role in breast enlargement. Klinefelter's syndrome is one of the identified genetic disorders. It causes male breasts enlargement and tenderness in and around his breast and nipples. It is the key symptom of a person suffering from Gynecomastia.

There are various ways of treating Gynecomastia. They include chest fat burner exercises and gynecomastia supplements. But the most preferred and successful way of treating this disease is by surgery. Cosmetic surgeries can be done to reduce enlarged breasts. Liposuction is one of the best methods of removing fat from the breast area while reducing the size. Another way of surgical cure is mammoplasty. This surgery removes the breast tissue reducing the size of the breast. But before going in for any kind of surgery, one must consult a very good plastic surgeon who will decide the best procedure.

If you want to improve this situation without medication then exercise is the best possible way to reduce chest fat. Exercise helps to reduce the fatty tissues and in turn it reduces your weight. You can also go to a professional trainer who can give you a chart of nutritional diet. A nutritional diet also is fat free and healthy. Proper diet and chest fat burner exercise can have no other better substitute. Having control over ones body is very important in this desease.

Finally, it is a good idea to try some herbal treatments like turmeric root which is a good cure for Gynecomastia. You need to take a 20 gram turmeric root every day for one month to cure the disease. Alternatively, you may take up gynecomastia supplements and medicines for correcting the hormonal balance. These medicines help in the secretion of testosterone hormone and reduce the estrogen level.
