By Caleb Lee

Gynecomastia is one of the common phenomenons among men occurring in about one third of men. In layman?s language it is termed as ?man?s boobs?. Nearly, 65% to 70% boys experience breast enlargement when they reach their puberty. This is very much normal and chest returns to its normal shape by the time the boys achieve 18 years of age.

When a man is affected by gynecomastia the breast tissue becomes firms, there by making the chest looking like enlarged breasts. There are multiple causes of gynecomastia. Among them, one of the major cause of gynecomastia is due to improper balance in hormones. Numerous researchers and studies have proved the fact that a changed ratio of androgen results in enlargement of breast tissue. An altered androgen ratio occurs due to several factors like reduction in production of androgen, sensitivity of tissues of breast to androgens etc.

Breast growth can be caused by certain medications that disturb the natural balance of hormones in the body. Studies have proved that drugs such as cardiovascular drugs, cancer chemotherapeutics, recreational drugs like marijuana and alcohol contribute to creating the condition of gynecomastia. And there are many more such drugs in the list.

Recreational drugs cause gynecomastia by stimulating and imitating estrogen production. Over usage of steroids cause over secretion of hormone that leads to enlarged breast problems. Some of the other causes of gynecomastia are kidney or liver failure, over activeness of thyroid glands and tumors in pituitary gland, kidney, liver, stomach, lungs etc.

Some normal health conditions also cause gynecomastia such as aging and puberty. However, it is commonly seen in men who are over weight.

Gynecomastia is a curable disease. In most of the time no medicinal attention is required. But if the situations get worse then with proper treatment the disease gets cured. Today, the market provides wide variety of gynecomastia supplements that helps in getting rid of gynecomastia within a short period of time. These gynecomastia supplements have no side effects and doctors recommend them for easy cure. However, if gynecomastia gets worse then surgery is performed to relieve the patient.

There are two types of surgery are performed to treat gynecomastia. They are:

1. Mastectomy: This surgery involves the removal of breast tissue. Time of recovery is less in this case..

2. Liposuction: Here, the breast gland tissue is not removed but the breast fat is removed.

The risk factors of gynecomastia include obesity, excessive alcohol consumption, kidney or chronic liver disease, family history etc. It means that gynecomastia can lead to the above mentioned conditions if not treated in time. However, this is a male specific disease.

The good news is that gynecomastia is fully curable, and it can be cured without medication also. Gynecomastia supplements like ultimate gynemax and chest fat burner exercises are extremely helpful in getting rid of this disease. It is important to detect the anomaly in the initial stage and consult a doctor immediately rather than feel embarrassed about it and allow the disease to grow.
