Many people are not really sure what magnetic locks are. Well, a magnetic lock is a lock that is equipped with electromagnets and armature plates. Magnetic locks are more expensive than regular locks. A good magnetic lock can cost you as much as three hundred dollars. Some are even more expensive. A good conventional lock will cost you about forty dollars. It is possible for a magnetic lock to be wired into your existing electric system. This will cost you money on your electric bill.

There some significant advantages to use magnetic locks as opposed to using conventional locks. For starters, it is impossible to pick a magnetic lock because it runs off electricity. These locks are safe being secured using a number of different coding mechanisms. They are also very reliable. Magnetic locks operating using twelve to twenty four volts of DC current. Some magnetic locks use batteries while others can be hooked using electric wiring.

Magnetic locks that are able to pull twelve hundred pounds are better for controlling access to doors that receive a lot of traffic.

The main advantage of magnetic locks is their ability to be used as a part of an entire electronic security system. Many times a magnetic lock will be attached to a keycard reader. It is also possible for a magnetic lock to be hooked up to a computer that monitors an entire buildings security. The locking mechanism can then be controlled by anyone with access to the computer. From there you can lock and unlock the doors.
