A Look into Streetwear

By Samantha Richards

StreetWear originated in the era of 1980's, mostly famous clothing for the skateboarders. It is a mix between the culture of the sneaker and the hipster. It also has a tough of vintage style sneakers.

What is Streetwear All About? Most people associate this type of clothing with hip hop or urban clothing and they think that they are all the same thing which is very far from the truth. The urban look or more specifically the hip hop clothing look is something that comes with baggy pants and oversized shirts with hoods. Streetwear simply is about wearing what you think looks best on you. Bringing originality and style to your own clothes is what streetwear really is.

What exactly is StreetWear? Streetwear simply consists of wearing casual and comfortable pieces of clothing like jeans, t-shirts, sneakers and baseball caps, with their own urban touch. But as the years pass by, things have changed and some things have been added.

This is nothing out of the ordinary. It's just like wearing your casual and comfortable clothing such as normal jeans, baseball caps, t-shirts and sneakers with a personalized touch of course. Time has passed and with it, the style has evolved with it as well and some things have been removed and some have been added.

Streetwear clothing went in the back drop scene until Japan revitalized it once again and made it international all over again. Many countries were quick to adopt this reinvented change and some countries started their own labels while forgetting about the originality of Streetwear and its designs.

From the humorous messages to the radiant colors is what creativity is all about in streetwear. The fashion never gets old because there are always those people who want to look different from the whole flock.

The latest things and the latest trends do not come cheap, which unfortunately is also the case with some types of this type of clothing. If you are the type of person that wants authentic and branded things, then brace yourself for spending money.

Being rebellious about your clothing and standing against the crowd is what the real meaning of streetwear is. To be independent and creative individually while not caring about the latest trends or the fashions of the current times defines this type of clothing.
