The Keys To Success Are Perseverance and Consistency

By Hal Neff

There has been no time in history when achieving success has been an easy thing. Today is no different. Yet different people understand different things when you say "success". Arthur Ashe, who was a famous and success tennis player on the pro tour, once made the statement, "success is a journey and not a destination". It is the journey along the road to success that is paramount and not the end result. The two components "perseverance and consistency" are essential in this process. There is no such thing as success without both.

There is not a human being alive that does not want the chance to achieve what we call "success". Yet many people want to get there without this consistency and perseverance that is require to realize all success. A writer by the name of R.C Allen said that most average people really desire to know the exact formula of success and that there truly does not need to be any mystery about how to get there.

The fist component that is necessary is to have a consistent action habit. This is a principle that deals with not only what you do but also what you say and what you think. There has to be a congruence in all three areas in order for success to be realized. If this is not the case, you will find that you will sabotage opportunities and success along the way.

The second component is perseverance. This is the attitude that no matter what may happen or come your way, you are not going to quit. You will keep on your chosen path. The challenges in your life may be astronomical, but you are going to be an overcome no matter what the odds. This is the result of a steadfast spirit that will just not give up. It is the idea of the last man standing. There is not a personal alive that does not find this an admirable quality in a person when they see it.

This is exactly what Winston Churchill exemplified in the second world war and actually spoke about in a convocation address where he simply said, "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, GIVE UP". It is this spirit of tenacity that kept the British from losing during the Second World War. This spirit and characteristic will also help you to stand in the face of all odds.

This will require a change in your perspective on thing that may be negative that come up in your life. It will require you to have a positive outlook in everything that comes your way. Look to get people around you that will be an encouragement to you. Keep away from people that only find things wrong in every situation. When you keep a positive influence around you, you will get the need encouragement to remain consistent and perseverant.

It is then you will begin to become a person who accepts responsibility for his/her life rather than a victim who blames everyone else. This will help you become empowered in your life. You will have the full knowledge that you can change any situation in life to your benefit. Perseverance and Consistency will become your partners in life and will give you new strength.
