Say Goodbye to Shyness - Practical Tips

By Nathaniel Gray

Shyness is an extremely frustrating problem. It decreases happiness, makes it harder to become successful and reduces life satisfaction in general. If you want to live your life to the fullest, you need to say goodbye to shyness and improve your confidence. How can you change yourself? Here are some useful tips that you will find helpful:

1. Expose yourself

First you need to learn to reduce your anxiety. In order to learn how to do that, you have to put yourself in situations when you feel the anxiety and remain in these situations (no matter how difficult it is) till the anxiety is no longer that powerful. Practicing this regularly will force your brain to act despite of situations that make you feel uncomfortable instead of escaping them (which will only make your shyness worse).

It's super important so I have to repeat that - it will be extremely hard to act in spite of your fears. However, if you really want to get over shyness, you have to be brave.

2. Stop feeling inferior

You don't feel shy in all situations and with every person. Are you insecure when you're speaking with a 10 year old kid? You said "no" - because you treat children as inferior to you (he's just a kid). Now imagine speaking with a beautiful girl. Now it's completely different because you believe she is superior to you. Realize a simple fact: if you don't accept yourself and don't increase your self-esteem, you will always have problem dealing with people who you think are more valuable than you are.

Put an end to this mindset. Stop thinking about everyone in terms of being superior or inferior to you. We are all equal.

3. Work on your social circle

Last but not least, supportive friends are a must. Start meeting with highly confident people who can teach you (even if only by imitating them) how to be a confident person. You won't become confident by playing computer games with all the shy guys from the school. You have to go out and do something more interesting.

Keep that in mind: overcoming shyness is a simple process but it doesn't mean it's a piece of cake. Once you follow the advice from this article, you will dramatically improve your self-confidence. Just bear in mind that it requires a lot of practice and a lot of discipline to eliminate your shyness once and for all. So be sure to be laser-focused on this aspect of your life and don't even consider giving up. Take action today!
