Tips to Eliminate Shyness

By Nathaniel Gray

Shyness is an extremely painful disorder. It decreases happiness, makes it difficult to achieve success and reduces satisfaction with life in general. If you would like to live your dream lifestyle, you need to eliminate shyness and become confident. How can you do that? Here are three tips to get rid of shyness:

1. Go past the anxiety

First you have to learn to act despite your anxiety. To learn how to do that, you have to put yourself in situations that make you feel the anxiety and hold on (in spite of feeling very anxious) until the anxiety is no longer overpowering. Practicing this as frequently as you can will teach your brain to deal with situations that make you feel anxious instead of escaping them (which will only make you feel even more insecure).

It's super important so I have to repeat that - it's going to be super difficult to act despite your fears. However, if you seriously want to get over shyness, you have to man up.

2. You are not inferior nor superior

You aren't insecure all the time and with all people. Are you shy when you're speaking with a 10 year old child? You said "no" - and the reason is that you treat him as inferior to you (she's just a child). Now imagine speaking with a beautiful woman. Now everything changes because you believe this girl has higher value than you do. This is a very important concept: if you don't learn how to feel comfortable in your own skin and don't improve your self-esteem, you'll always have problem dealing with people who you think are more valuable than you are.

Get rid of this mindset. Stop thinking about people in terms of being superior or inferior to you. We are all equal.

3. Build a supportive social circle

Lastly, supportive friends are a must. Meet as often as you can with super confident people from whom you can learn (even if only by watching them) how to be confident. You won't overcome shyness by playing video games with all the nerds from the school. You need to go out and do something more interesting.

And that's how to get over shyness. Keep that in mind: overcoming shyness is a simple process but it doesn't mean it's effortless. Once you put into use these three tips, you will dramatically improve your confidence. Just bear in mind that you will need a lot of practice and a lot of patience to overcome your shyness once and for all. So be sure to be laser-focused on this part of your life and never give up. Take action now!
