Team Building Ideas That Will Revamp Work Efficiency

By Carla Rossouw

In a team, productivity and efficiency are two factors that need to be given attention. These two constitute to the success of a team. In order to make your team the best team in town, you should try executing the following team building ideas. Try them and observe the positive changes that will come by.

Execute some problem solving tasks. Activities that will enhance the problem solving skills of your members are very effective. One activity that you can try is the Egg Drop Challenge. The members will be divided into groups and will have the same set of materials needed for the challenge. The goal is to create an egg nest which will be able to protect the egg from a great fall. The members will have to think how they are going to create a special container using only the materials provided to them. This will work their creativity and their resourcefulness - two factors that are very important in solving problems. Of course, there will also be time pressure. This will help the team learn how to work under pressure.

Execute some communication tasks. Communication is very important in a team. If the members do not know how to talk with each other, they will never be able to produce efficient-work and good output. The members have to become comfortable with each other so that it will be easier for them to brainstorm about a project and share their opinions to make the project become more successful. One good activity for this one is the Truth and Lie Game. In this game, each member will be asked to say two statements about himself that actually happened and one statement about himself that he just made. The other members will then be tasked to tell apart the truths from the lie. In this activity, the members will be able to share some things about themselves and become more open with each other.

The third activity is the Enlarge the Puzzle Challenge. In this game, all participants will be divided into teams. Each team member will receive a puzzle piece which he only is allowed to see. That puzzle piece should be recreated five times larger than the original. The catch is that no one in the team knows the puzzle picture to be formed. No one knows what puzzle pieces the other members hold. This activity will help the members become more aware of their work and its effect on the whole group's success. This will help them value their individual works which can lead to good personal development. This is a fun and interesting event for everyone.

These are some of the activities that you can incorporate in your teambuilding events. These activities aim not to only bring the members closer to each other but also to improve their efficiency as individuals and as a team.
