What Prosperity Scriptures Mean To You Today

By Zoe Smith

I know you?ve thought about it before: Does God want to teach me a lesson by not giving me money and good health? The answer is a resounding no. God?s heart is to see you walking in the fullness of life! May it be in finances, health or relationships, God?s will for you is to be in abundance and prosperity at all times. You can glean this truth from the prosperity scriptures written in the Bible.

Begin with the very first book in the Bible and you will find many of God?s chosen people blessed and well provided for. Abraham?s possessions and riches were such that he had to make a choice to separate with his nephew because they had too much cattle and herds that the land could not support both of them. Sarah, his wife was so beautiful that a king almost made her part of his harem. Did I mention she was ninety? Incredible right? That?s supernatural prosperity at work.

How about Joseph? He was a dreamer scorned by his brothers and sold to slavery. When he served his master faithfully, the master?s wife had him thrown to prison on wrongful charges. In prison, he still served the warden, even helping out one inmate by correctly interpreting his dream of freedom?and yet he too was forgotten by this friend. Does this sound like you? Beset by troubles, never seeing the light at the end of the tunnel? Cheer up and be faithful. God knows and He delivers. In one day Joseph went from the pit to the palace where he served as second in command to the whole of Egypt.

But maybe you think, even if God?s will is prosperity, it?s reserved for the Jews many years ago and not for me. Think again. Read the New Testament in closer detail especially the book of Ephesians, and you will understand that today you, yes you sitting there reading this article, are a partaker of the promises given to Abraham. Genesis 12:2-3 gives God?s promise,? I will bless you and make your name great; I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families on earth shall be blessed? ? it was for Abraham and now it is for you too.

People say that God espouses poverty and points to select Bible verses to prove their point. This cannot be true because there are many scriptures that show God rewarding His faithful people with prosperity and promises of abundance. 1Chronicles 22:13 If you obey the laws and teachings that the LORD gave Moses, you will be successful. Be strong and brave and don't get discouraged or be afraid of anything. Mark 10:29-39 ?I tell you the truth,? Jesus replied, ?no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields?and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.?

Prosperity scriptures come with the loving, sometimes firm warning of exercising wisdom in the blessings you receive. It makes sense now doesn?t it? God wants you to prosper but He wants you to use it well because He cares not only of your physical needs, but your soul?s as well. Jesus said, ?A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.? ? It?s a promise worth finding out don?t you think?
