There is nothing worse than a child who has been through some sort of trauma in their lives. There are so many children who have been abused in different ways, but have not revealed this to anyone. A child may simply block this out of their life. However, it can be triggered off at any time. As an adult, a person may go to a therapist because they are suffering from depression. It can be difficult to know how to socialize. Relationships are always tricky, whether it is a case of the child being emotionally, sexually or physically abused. Some people may not have been affected as badly, but still need to talk about what they have through, otherwise it will always be on the back of their mind. There are stages that one will go through. It is a gradual process, and not something that is cured overnight.

The therapist will realize that it takes more time to connect with the patient. They have been through a lot in their life and they will need to be more patient. However, they have the skills for this. Sometimes, they will make use of creative or art therapy which can bring a person out of their shell. Often, this give the individual a sense of freedom as they are busy with their task. They are also assigned homework on occasions which keeps them motivated and encourages them during this time.
