The Benefits of CS-Mount Security Cameras

By Alicia Thomson

C-mount security cameras are the original security camera. They were developed in the 1970's and are defined to this day by their boxy mold. This mold was necessary because nearly all the circuit boards were bigger than today. As chip technology has improved over the years, camera sizes have gotten smaller allowing for designers to create additional shapes. these days, the security camera manufacturers make a variety of camera types, the now most prominent being the bullet camera.

C-mount security cameras no longer dominate the security camera industry, but regardless, cs-mount security cameras still retain many reasons to use them in your security camera setup. The most prominent of these reasons is their superior resolution, because c-mount cameras still give the highest resolution of any security camera kind. The reason for the superior resolution comes down to the style of the camera itself. CS-mount cameras can use a 1/2 inch chip set, in contrast most smaller cameras are limited to 1/4 or 1/3 inch chips sets. With an increased size chip set the camera has a greater number of pixels than a smaller one, and a greater number of pixels results in a higher quality video. A larger chip set also makes the camera be able to pick up light better in low-lighting conditions.

C-mount surveillance cameras are very effective when used inside, but face challenges when used outdoors. To be used on exterior walls , c-mount security cameras need special mounting brackets to fix them on outdoor walls and housings to protect cs-mount cameras from the weather conditions.

Infrared surveillance cameras excel at seeing in complete darkness, and many other cameras see well in the daytime, but c-mount cameras are some of the only cameras that work exceptionally well in the space between no light and daytime. This ability to record in poor lighting conditions is measured by a camera's lux rating. Lux is the measuring tool for the amount of light falling on an object. Lower lux ratings means that the camera can see in darker conditions but generally increases the cost of the camera.

It needs to be said that c-mount cameras do not come equipped with a lens, so one will need to be purchased separately. This makes them initially more more expensive and less costly over time, as their lenses can be swapped out to fit another role rather than requiring a completely new surveillance camera.

When using a cs-mount cameras it is imperative to understand the extent of c-mount cameras sensitivity. Rain, wind, and temperature variance can have a dramatic impact on the surveillance cameras, so housing and a mounting bracket should both be purchased. Housings come in many varieties, and some even have the ability to heat or cool the units based upon the weather.

Another prime example of the benefits of c-mount security cameras has to do with how banks and government offices use them. The bulky mold of cs-mount security cameras can be a great advantage, as they are very noticeable and often prevent crime by simply alerting all would be vandals that they are being recorded.

In summary, In conclusions, c-mount cameras are the first security camera to turn to if you're looking for a high quality, high resolution video, a highly adaptable indoor camera, or an excellent low light camera. Conversely, If you are looking for an outdoor camera that doesn't need to work at night or have the highest resolution, might want to research a bullet security camera. For an indoor environment and high quality video, there is nothing better.
