Selecting The Best Airsoft Guns

By Anthony Carter

With the mounting pressures that one faces each day, there is a need to blow off steam. This may be why the game of Airsoft has gained in popularity so quickly over the last few years. Using Airsoft guns to shoot at things after a long and tedious day not only relieves tension, it also lets one play a game that allows aggression.

An Airsoft game is somewhat like a paintball game in that there are skirmishes, and the goal is to shoot somebody. However, the type of gun that is selected, the strategy that is used during the game, and the levels of play are very different.

People who play Airsoft take the game very seriously. This game is played throughout the world and there are several contests and championships each year. The Airsoft guns are exact replicas of real weapons and have the same weight and feel of the weapon that they are replicating.

There are several different Airsoft guns from which one may choose. The choice of gun will greatly depend on the type of game one is playing and the amount of money that they want to invest in their first gun. There are very affordable Airsoft guns available that are called Springers. They do not have mechanical parts and shoot a single bb, then must be recocked. Many people collect these guns, but they are not used on the field because they do not have the range, velocity, or shooting power that other Airsoft guns have.

An introduction to Airsoft usually begins with an Open day skirmish. This game is held regularly at Airsoft fields. One can attend as part of a group or go as an individual and join a group. The players in this game most commonly use the AEG AR-15 series of gun. This gun runs on batteries and has the capability of shooting up to 3000 bbs per minute at an opponent. They also have greater velocity and range than most other weapons that are used for skirmishes.

People who have been playing Airsoft for awhile usually find that they want more range and velocity from their airsoft guns. To meet this objective there are several add-ons and options available for all the guns. The hop-up is the most commonly added feature. This component of the gun increases the velocity and range that the bb will go by making the bb spin when it exits the barrel of the gun.

The battery pack in the AEG turns gears that shoot the bb and the hop-up unit is attached to the gear. In addition, there are other options that make the gun even more realistic. An electrical blow back provides the gun with the sound of a shot each time a bb is dispersed. The gun also can be adjusted to provide the same recoil that the real weapon has.

One will see many Airsoft guns at a game and each player will have a favorite gun. Some individuals prefer the AGGs which are Airsoft Gas Guns. These guns run using propane or a CO2 gas tank. Manufacturers have now created an adapter so that a person can get gas for their gun from a camp propane tank using the adapter.

When first starting in the game of Airsoft one may want to rent their guns at first until they find the gun that fits their needs and skill level. This will allow an individual to develop a skill and strategy that will make the game exciting and fun.
