How To Hypnotise Yourself And Achieve Success

By Paul Robertson

You may be one of the people out there wondering how to hypnotise yourself. If you have been looking for answers, you will find that there are many ways to hypnotise yourself successfully. One such technique is the Betty Erickson technique.

The thought that people tend to think in terms of sounds, feelings and pictures forms the basis for the Betty Erickson technique. But what does this entail? Thinking in feelings is what folks do when they react to physical sensations. When we hear things, we will think in terms of the sounds that are created within us. Lastly, what we see and envisage is how we think in pictures. Most of us will naturally use one of these ways more than they utilize the others.

Hypnosis has become a fairly stereotyped action thanks to the media. Most people still believe that hypnotists are able to wave a watch in front of another and that customer will go into a deep sleep. There are actually much more effective and realistic ways to mesmerize another person.

Actually, hypnosis is more about focus and deep relaxation. Being hypnotised by someone is all about becoming relaxed enough to shift your focus of attention inwards. When studying how to hypnotise yourself you will want to put quite a bit of attention into getting relaxed and focused.

It is first important to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Sitting up or laying down as long as you are relaxed will do. Most persons prefer to sit lest they fall asleep accidentally. Empty your mind and begin to breathe slowly.

Concentrate for a while on how long you want the hypnosis to last. You may, for instance, want the session to last 10 or 15 minutes. Your body will keep track of time by using its interior clock. This fact is supported by the knowledge that you will typically wake up just a short while before your alarm clock sounds.

It is very important to also be clear about why you are hypnotising yourself. Some people want their hypnosis session to give them a greater feeling of peace or relaxation. Concentrate on this hypnotic goal so your unconscious mind can get to work during your hypnosis session. You can state the purpose out aloud if you like.

The next step is to find three items within your surroundings which you will concentrate on for small periods of time. Small objects without too much detail are best. Find something like key on a shelf, a knot in a wooden shelf or perhaps something like a door knob. Let your eyes focus on each item as you see fit, and keep yourself relaxed. Some persons will also verbally say what they are looking at. Repeat this step with three items you can hear and then three sensations you feel. Count down slowly from three to one. This procedure helps you to shift your attention inwards.

Lastly, focus internally on three items you can visualize, then three sounds and feelings you can imagine. When you feel like your allotted time has passed open your eyes. With more practise you will find this type of hypnotic state easier to accomplish and more effectual. If you practice these straightforward steps you will have effectively mastered how to hypnotise yourself.
