Three Induces Of High Blood Pressure To Watch For

By Celine Brooks

Your body is a complex operation, sometimes it's easy to identify the causes of high blood pressure within it, other times not so easy. Yet it's important to find out if you have high blood pressure, as this can lead to many serious health problems. Making some lifestyle changes to avoid hypertension can only be done once you know the causes of high blood pressure.

One of the major leading causes of high blood pressure in men and women is being overweight. Both high blood pressure and obesity have seen a rise in those developed countries where this is a problem. The early warning signs of other health problems including high blood pressure are warning signs. The way to address this is fairly simple, and involves eating a healthier diet and getting more exercise, and it's often possible to lower your blood pressure quite a bit simply by making such changes in your lifestyle.

Fatigue, weight gain and joint pain are only a few of the symptoms of adrenal or thyroid issues. People don't often realize they have these conditions for a large amount of time due to the fact that they can only be detected with medical tests. Treatment usually consists of prescription medication.

If you have certain long term illnesses, they can raise your risk of developing high blood pressure. One such condition is kidney disease, especially in older people. You can develop high blood pressure if you have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes as both of them damage the kidneys. If there is a family history of either kidney disease or diabetes, you are at a greater risk for developing these problems. Your doctor will want to monitor your blood pressure if you are ever diagnosed with either diabetes or any kind of kidney disease and may even prescribe medication to help manage it.

Sleep apnea is one cause of high blood pressure that is not as well known. Sleep apnea is a disorder where you stop breathing during sleep for up to a minute at a time. People with sleep apnea often snore, as this is a symptom of obstructed breathing when sleeping. People with sleep apnea are often tired throughout the day because they are not getting restful sleep. Doing a sleep study at a sleep disorder center is the only way to diagnose this condition that mainly affects those that smoke and who are overweight. Finding out if you have this condition because sleep apnea can lead to high blood pressure and heart disease.

Fortunately, once this problem has been diagnosed, there are quite a few ways to manage it and reduce your blood pressure.
