We have all suspected for some time now that attractive folk enjoy a higher level of success than the average looking person. This belief has resulted in a nation that spends endless hours and billions of dollars trying to attain the highest standards of beauty. Till just recently, the question still remained unanswered. Did investing in that pricey wrinkle remover actually help increase your level of success and happiness?
Courtesy of a study by the University of Texas, we no longer need to speculate as to whether this is correct. According to this report; good looking people not only enjoy more success professionally, but in other areas of their life as well.
In a study that assessed the happiness levels reported by more than 10,000 subjects, researchers concluded the subjects which were seen as being more attractive reported an average of 10% higher happiness levels than people who were seen as being average looking. The percentage increased even more when compared to those subjects who were perceived as being unattractive.
In addition to the reported increase in happiness levels, attractive folks also have better paid jobs, more attractive spouses, and more active social lives. The query that analysts are now looking to answer is, does a universal standard of beauty truly exist? There are many folk who contend that the results of previous studies are biased because, what's attractive to one individual is not necessarily attractive to another.
While researchers argue to figure out the science behind this phenomenon, there's one thing that consistently remains correct. If you feel good about the way you look, you are much more likely to work harder and be happier. So in the end, I guess it does not matter what studies have to say on the matter. If purchasing that hundred dollar wrinkle cream or getting Botox injections every six months helps you feel better about yourself, then by all means go for it.
Perhaps it's not the perception of others that leads to more success. Maybe it is our own perception of ourselves that's to blame for our position in the world , be it good or bad. One thing is certain, a little positive self esteem has definitely never hurt anybody. So do not ever be afraid to take a few moments everyday to remind yourself how attractive you actually are, both inside and out.
