What Is The Fastest Way To Lose Weight?

By Amanda Kirby

How can you lose weight in a short amount of time? To answer the question literally, the quickest way to lose weight is not to eat. Believe it or not, many people actually do that.

Going on a water fast, where you eat nothing and drink only water, can have you losing 3 to 7 pounds a week and possibly more the first week. Another option is a juice fast where you

The biggest problem with any type of fasting is that it can be dangerous. People with health issues such as diabetes, can't even safely fast for 24 hours. You should definitely consult your doctor before you fast, and most likely your doctor will tell you to not do it.

Even if you can find somebody to support you with health checks while you go ahead, you will find there are many problems involved in fasting for more than one day. First you will find that you are likely to become very tired. Fasting usually needs an extra amount of rest, and most of us are too busy to just stay put.

Next, you might run into symptoms of detox. These symptoms can be quite severe during a fast, since the body has no choice but to cleanse itself. Headaches, cramps, skin rashes, 24-hour fevers and respiratory infections are just some of the detox symptoms that you may encounter in your quest for the quickest way to lose weight.

This is especially true if your diet has been poor in the past. We constantly ingest toxins coming from chemicals in our food and the environment. But, when the amount of toxins we take in is higher than the amount we can get rid of, our body stores them inside fat cells. So, when the fat is used for energy, the toxins are released back into the bloodstream.

We can also run into the problem of having muscle mass breaking down to produce energy as well. Protein is what is used to build muscles, so if protein lacks in the diet, the muscles tend to lose mass.

Some people decide to try a juice fast to avoid any of these issues, but they will still experience some of the same problems, though probably not as severely. You will still experience detox symptoms, and you won't take in enough protein. Fruit does not contain much protein. There is more in vegetables, but you may lose a lot along with the fiber when you are juicing them.

It is best to use mainly green vegetable juices because they contain more essential minerals and vitamins than fruit. And they are much better for your teeth. Unfortunately, many people don't think the juice from green vegetables tastes very good. Juicing can also be an expensive option, and you may be surprised how little juice you get from a pound of vegetables. Adding some fruit to your juicing veggies can help with the taste, but does not make much difference to the cost.

You can draw health benefits from juice fasting, as long as it is carefully planned and done under medical supervision. For most people, however, it is better to follow a recognized diet that will lead to steady, sustainable weight loss. It might not be the quickest way to lose weight, but it will yield longer lasting results in the end.
