How To Conquer Your Fear Of Taking Action For Greater Personal Development

By Jones Ian

The self-help industry is full of advice. Do this, do that and your problems will be solved. The important thing to remember is to test all advice you get from self help authors to see if it works. Here are some tips you can put to the test to achieve whatever self-help goals you have set.

To live an authentic life you must become aware of who you really are and what you really want. Take at least 20 minutes each day to meditate. Examine your actions every day and decide whether or not you are really doing what you want to do. Identify the things that really are your heart's desire and plan the steps you must take to attain them.

For complete personal development, don't overlook your body. Many people see personal development as a mind journey, but overlook the fact that our bodies and minds are deeply connected. Build exercise into your personal development plan. You'll find that your overall personal growth will be sped up when you approach it with both systems in mind.

Personal development is often the province of aggressive planners. An overly-restrictive plan can be a hindrance to successful personal development, though. Plans need to remain flexible to cope with unexpected obstacles. When strategies prove unsuccessful, plans have to change to embrace alternative ideas. A flexible plan is always superior to a rigid one.

To improve on your personal skills, explore alternative forms of communication that you do not ordinarily use. If you usually rely on text messages, instant messaging, or email for a written word - try writing and mailing a handwritten note or card by snail mail. For a spoken word - use the telephone - instead of the help of a computer to communicate to someone and improve your one-on-one skills.

When it comes to personal development, make sure that you are able to distinguish between coming close to what you were hoping for and completing your goal fully. This is important so that you strive to be the best at what you do, not just getting the job done well enough.

For your health and well-being, it is wise to keep up on medical check-ups and preventive tests. You can't live life to the fullest if you aren't healthy. Most insurance plans cover physicals and diagnostic tests, such as mammograms and routine blood work. These measures will keep your mind at ease and thwart any issues that need dealing with.

Make a plan, and write it down. Many people aim to acquire a skill or improve an existing one. Do not keep your ideas to do so in your head. By writing them down, the odds increase that you will actually carry out the plan, and succeed at achieving your goals.

To get the most from your personal development endeavors, set goals designed to make you happy first. Remember that the criticism you absorb from others is only holding you back from achieving happiness and feeling good about yourself. Put those criticisms aside and focus on what you really want in life.

A key element in your success will be thinking and acting pro-actively as opposed to re-actively. As you try to better yourself, remember that your mind controls all things. Take opportunities and activities that come your way into consideration with an open mind, and embark on new adventures as they will provide you with experiences necessary for you to grow as a person.

Some people have trouble moving on and the easiest way to move on is to find out exactly what is holding you back. Is it a task? A person? The environment you're living in? Once you let go off that burden you will be able to move on with your life and began focusing on the more positive aspects of your life.

"Can't" should not be in your vocabulary. Take it out now. Any time you think you "can't" do something, try to come up with five reasons why you can't, and then remember YES YOU CAN!! It might take longer in the beginning to get used to this idea, but in the end, you will wonder why you ever thought you couldn't.

Improving yourself is with your reach! Learn from those around you. Learn from their failures, mistakes, successes and great choices. You do not have to take all of the learning to heart, just observe and learn something from the situation. By doing this you will see that everyone has their ups and downs, and it will be no different for you on your road to bettering yourself.

These tips lay a foundation for achieving your self-help goals, but they are not magic. Your job is to put each of these tips to the test and see if it works for you. Modify them as needed. Once you do, you will have created a customized recipe to meet your self-help goals.
