The Truth About Diets For Quick Weight Loss

By Erin Eckhart

Diets For Quick Weight Loss will always be popular. People will always be on the lookout for the next great thing to help them slim down. Science has determined that many of these fad diets can be unhealthy or ineffective. Take care to properly research a diet and see if it fits a few simple guidelines.

A miraculous instant weight loss trick just doesn't exist, but you can make some changes to speed things up without resorting to a quick weight loss diet. Here's how:

Don't Shut Down Your Fat Burning Furnace

Are you restricting your calories? This can actually harm not help. Starving yourself can cause you to retain weight and slow down metabolism by 30%. To stoke your fire again, eat enough calories to fuel you basal metabolic rate.

BMR calculators are available online and will help you determine your best caloric intake amount. The more active you are, the more calories you need to consume. You can also determine the right amount to maintain steady 1 or 2 pound per week weight loss. Body builders use this to gain weight when trying to get bigger muscles.

Add in the right type of exercise

You can easily lose a pound a week by sticking to a balanced diet, or two pounds a week if you add exercise.

Many fad diets for quick weight loss claim that no exercise is needed, this is a mistake. Your metabolism will also benefit from exercise and keep you burning fat while you sleep!

One of the best cardio types of exercise is high intensity interval training. Rather that jog for hours or walk forever, 20-30 minutes of intervals a few times a week will shed fat like you cannot even believe! No treadmill required, just sprint up hills or do some fast biking for 30 seconds, then regular speed for 60. Repeat this over 20-30 minutes and you are done!

If you suffer from stress, try yoga, pilates or meditation. Sometimes a hot bath with candles and soft music is a good way for me to unwind. Add in a couple days of strength training with weights, and watch you weight drop right off!

No More Starving Yourself

We've all heard the stories about celebrities who live off of nothing more than lemonade with maple syrup and cayenne pepper to quickly slim down for a role. What we don't hear about is the aftermath: Those same celebrities regained all the weight as soon as they started eating again.

You might also become irritable, or worse yet damage your health all around. These extreme tactics are really not realistic for long term health and maintenance.

To maintain a healthy weight, your body needs to be healthy. Feed it right, move it often, and give it the hydration it needs to perform at its peak.
