Some Methods To Communicate With Your Grandchild

By Joseph G. Johnson

Communication is important between grandparents and grandchild. Here are some of the things that you can do to keep it open.

1. If you live near, you can always offer to take care of your grandchild after school especially since their parents are busy at work. Other than making snacks for them, you can also help them in their school work. Grandchildren will appreciate it that you are interested to help them.

2. If you live far, you can send your grandchild a letter or card to let them know how much you are thinking of them and miss them.

3. Your child can be forgetful especially if they are busy at work, be the one to remind them to notify if you your grandchild has activities in school or any sporting event that you can attend. It would be fun and would make you really proud watching your grandchild perform.

4. You can also call your grandchild once a week since you cannot visit often. You can either call or text once in awhile. However, if your grandchildren are older like pre-teens and teenagers, do not do it too often as they have the tendency to misunderstand that you are interfering in their lives. Call just to say hello; this way they know that you care for them very much.

5) Another way is to have your child to install any form of visual calling application in their computer so you can call them online and have a video chat. This way, you talk and see them anytime you want. Although it would be best to keep this brief and short, it is a way of letting your grandchild knows they can contact you anytime they want.

Every grandparent would attest that their grandchildren are special and given the chance, they would always want to keep in touch. You are the only person who can share with them how they were when they were little and also about their parents. This information is special and they will definitely cherish it.

It is everyone's desire to be able to communicate with their grandchildren. Hopefully, these tips are helpful.
