Get the ideal results from juicing vegetables

By Brinton MacFarland

Pain or pleasure? Most of us choose pleasure and unfortunately that often means eating chips rather than vegetables. There are many of use who don't enjoy eating fruit and veg. This means that we end up losing out on many essential nutrients that can keep us fit and fine. In our mineral-depleted soils, juicing is an efficient way of extracting as much goodness as possible from fruit and vegetables and and in a form that's very available to be absorbed. Many weight loss programs rely on juicing as a core discipline. Its ease of use, excellent results and the relatively cheap price of juicers has lead to its increasing popularity.

Juicing allows an individual to get a high dose of vitamins, minerals and beneficial enzymes and that too in just one glass without the chewing on five to six fruits within a day. While it is often used as a weight-loss solution, juicing is also easy on the digestive system and provides ample amounts of energy, allowing the body to become healthier and fitter.

Vegetable juice contains many compounds that assist in detoxification and body repair giving you a clearer complexion and a healthier body and mind. Freshly squeezed vegetables and fruits are healthier compared to store-bought juices.

However, juicing does have some drawbacks as well. For example, when juicing a vegetable takes away its fibers, which is very important for a healthy digestive system. So, if you are drinking juices instead of eating raw vegetables and fruits, try eating ample amounts of whole grain breads, nuts and seeds to get enough fiber.

Growing your own fruit and vegetables mitigates the small extra cost that you will incur by using more of them in juicing.

But then you cannot ignore the health benefits that juices offer. So, it is definitely worth it. Juicing also provides you the added advantage of including supplements such as spirulina. When you add this supplement to a glass of your favorite fruit juice, you consume a higher number of antioxidants, which prevent you from free radical damage. Of course, you can always purchase other supplements such as organic acai berry to get your anti-oxidants.

Other supplements that you can add to your juices to make them healthier include chlorella, an algae which contains twenty vitamins and minerals. Wheatgrass juice is another supplement which is helpful in alleviating diseases such as skin rashes, worms, and ulcers.
