Skin Treatments Invigorate Your Appearance

By Patric S. Colligue

There are skin treatments available to remove imperfections and make the surface glow with a fresh look. The treatments are usually located on the face, arms, and neck of the patient. Age does not matter when it comes to having blemishes that are caused by stress and exposure to the elements. Hollywood has made these procedures famous for their ability to keep the body looking young and vibrant.

Blemishes are caused by aging and exposure to the elements. Most blemishes are caused by natural processes through aging, sun tanning, or other exposure. By removing the top layer of the surface, the lower layers are able to provide a fresh and healing effect. Through this process the skin is able to provide a healing effect.

The most popular method is microdermabrasion. This procedure removes the top layer gently by essentially sanding it away with air and tiny particles. It is a much kinder treatment than laser burning would be. Your dermatologist uses an instrument shaped like a pen that provides a slight sucking action. While it pulls a small area of the surface up, the device spaces tiny particles that remove the dead cells much like exfoliation. This exposes the lower, living tissue which provides the smoother, glowing appeal.

The newly exposed cells are allowed to promote healing and growth. Removing the dead layer promotes faster growth of the lower layer. When your arm peels from a sunburn, the lower level is often smoother, younger looking, and has a healthy quality. This is essentially the process that microdermabrasion provides.

Slight redness may occur after treatment. This will go away quickly. Most experience a slight redness during and for a couple of hours after. This actually is similar to a glowing effect after being in the hot sun for awhile. As the surface reduces redness, it has a sheen obtained only in beauty parlors. A moisture cream can be applied to help healing faster.

Your dermatologist should help decide how often this procedure is provided. Though there are home kits that allow you to exfoliate yourself, it is best to consult with your dermatologist to make sure you are not overdoing it. You also want to make sure you do not have a condition that should avoid this process.

Skin treatments can provide a younger looking you. Through your dermatologist, you will be able to renew your looks through simple, pain free treatments. Eventually, your crow's feet and other blemishes will be a thing of the past.
