Suggestions for Improving Stress

By Julianne Marks

One of the uppermost quandaries of today's time is stress, and recognizing some release for it is a huge concern if you like to be aware of your health and general sense of well being.

You've probably heard that exercise is good for stress relief, but many people still don't take advantage of this. The best type of exercise for reducing stress is vigorous cardio workouts, like interval training. Interval training is where you go as fast as you can for about 30 seconds and then slow down for a few minutes, then repeat the cycle several times. 20 or 30 minutes of this type of high intensity workout is effective at burning both stress and calories. You should check with your doctor if you haven't exercised for a while and build up your endurance gradually.

Some stress relief can come from being a good time manager. Feeling behind schedule all the time and never having enough time to finish your tasks are definitely going to cause stress.

This technique has you tap places on your face and body to stimulate acupuncture points. Along with several books on the topic, you can videos online that you can follow. There are different tapping sequences for different purposes, and many of them can quickly reduce stress. You can do entire EFT routine in a few minutes and you can do it by yourself with no equipment.

Another great way to reduce stress is to get regular massages or other relaxing types of bodywork. When done on a regular basis, this can be extremely beneficial and is a proven way to help you feel better. Massage therapists sometimes work at gyms and fitness centers. You can also locate one in your area with no trouble. While this is healthy and relaxing for all your muscles, it also makes you feel refreshed both physically and emotionally.

As these strategies illustrate, stress relief can be easier than you think. Taking some deep breaths, going for a walk, meditating for five minutes or even petting your dog can all refocus your mind and help defuse a stressful situation. Very often, when we experience stress, we get fixated on the problem, while taking even a short break and using one of these methods can put us in a more positive state of mind.
