TAROT - How Often Should You have a Reading?

By Edith Green

One of my FAQs is, "How frequently should I have a Tarot Card reading?" There is no common answer. It depends on your purpose - what kind of reading you are having and the way you're using it. If you are looking for some indication about what's happening generally in the long term, then you could have a reading each and every six months or so, or maybe each and every year.

This type of reading tends to involve a bigger "spread" or "layout" as Tarot readings are called, with more cards in it. This allows a broader view of trends that might be coming into play around you. It generally tells a reader whether you are inside a time of change or of relative stability - whether or not new stuff is going to occur or things remain extremely similar to how they are now. You don't need this type of reading very often. It's "big picture" stuff and tends to change gradually.

If you are looking at 1 issue at a time, like if you're going to get a brand new job soon, you can ask that question having a smaller kind of layout. A few cards or a Celtic Cross will probably be fine and will let you know what the possibilities are in that scenario. The studying might tell you if you have to add to your abilities and head off in a new career direction or search much more thoroughly for a job than you're currently doing. In the event you asked about moving home it may say that moving could be disruptive at this time. The Tarot is usually more than just "Yes" or "No". Usually it provides you some advice or insight also.

With a reading based on 1 specific subject you can ask whenever you like as long as the topics are different. It's no good asking exactly the same thing many occasions, because the answers just become confusing and often merely reflect how you are feeling that day. I always attempt to discourage people from becoming dependent on divination. Asking exactly the same question again and again, trying to "nag" the cards into telling you what you need to hear is not healthy. Sometimes life doesn't give us what we want and we have to accept that and get on with things as best we can.

It is much better not to ask trivial concerns. I have discovered that the Tarot operates best when you've thought out your question carefully and place it in a sensible manner. Whenever you have an answer to a question, then it is a great idea to go away and reflect on it and see how that answer can assist you to with your problem. That is among the strengths of the Tarot - guidance. It can help us to determine solutions for ourselves.

By using the Tarot wisely, it becomes like talking to a good friend. The answers often open up new methods of looking at our lives that will help us bring out the best for ourselves in the future. Like all good friends it responds best if you take notice of the answers it gives.
