Why You Need Self Confidence and How to Get It

By Seth Czerepak

Self-confidence is one thing I like to call an "enabling emotion." The reason behind it is because with self
confidence, you are able to achieve tasks that you simply generally couldn't without self confidence. For instance,
if you wanted to approach a member from the opposite gender, this may end up being extremely challenging without having self
confidence. The truth is, I significantly doubt someone with reduced self-confidence would approach somebody from the
opposite sex. On the other hand, someone rich in levels of confidence would be able to approach
somebody from the opposite gender effortlessly. As you can see, possessing substantial amounts of self-confidence is best,
because it will allow you to complete tasks that you normally would be far too timid to complete.

Regardless of what your level of self confidence is at right now, I want you to know one thing. No matter
where you're at in life, it's always possible to get more confidence. In fact, if you feel like your life isn't
everything it should be, this is most likely because you do not have enough self confidence.

If you really feel this way, you need to start working on developing self-confidence. The idea behind developing
confidence is simple. However, putting that concept into action is yet another story. Lots of people fail to build
the self-confidence they really want due to anxiety. They're scared to fall short, when failure is exactly what
you need to develop confidence. Due to this, if you wish to gain more self-confidence, you need to get rid
of the anxiety about failure. After all, failure is a great thing, because without failing, how would you discover the
lessons that will send you to success?

When trying to build self confidence, you must understand the process. To construct self-confidence, you
need to place yourself in a frightening situation. How you react to that situation will see whether you
build self-confidence or otherwise. Let's return to the first instance I listed: approaching an associate of the opposite
sex.

Okay, let's imagine you have low levels associated with self-confidence. You normally wouldn't approach. However, if
you're seeking to develop confidence, you'll approach. You'll approach, because you are assured a
self-confidence boost if you do. The amount of confidence you will get can depend on how your interaction goes, nevertheless, no matter what the end result is, you will still gain self-confidence. Although you may get completely blown
out, you can still be proud of the reality that you approached, even though you were scared. This is how
you build confidence.

Creating self-confidence is difficult. It takes courage. However, once you begin, your confidence will grow
significantly. The more self-confidence you have, the easier it is to get more. For this reason, it's
absolutely crucial that you decide to make the first step. That's all it takes. So the next time you're confronted with
a challenge, instead of avoiding it, take it directly. You'll smash the opposition, and understand that gaining
confidence isn't so difficult in the end.
